If you haven’t already seen the new God of War III trailer, cut off your pinkie and go watch it immediately (here’s the lower-resolution version if you are bandwidth-bound.) This is a great trailer, one that makes you lose sleep or want to kill your friend and steal his PS3. (FYI, this is an in-engine, real-time-rendered, albeit scripted footage.)
God of War is a great game, perhaps the best game ever (OK, all-time top three.) If you have never played it, you have missed a lot in your life, believe you me! It’s like you’ve never watched the Matrix or Fight Club or The God Father. It somehow completes one’s life experience. I’m not saying you have to like it or them, but you got to experience them at least. (What? You don’t like them? Get the hell out of here.)

I love the first four sentences by Kratos. Especially the part where he says “I fear nothing” right after saying “I hope for nothing”… hmm.. so philosophical … what should you be afraid of if you do not hope for anything … can’t wait for the game to come out.
Does Siamak have a PS3? Any plan to killing and stealing? then you can count on me.

Too violent for me man. But seems like a great game.
Too violent?! That sounds like a contradiction! There’s no such thing as too violent; just artistic, or untreal, or out of place, or comical or unbelievable.
Real world is cruel and violent. The fact that most of the time we are fortunate enough not to see it, doesn’t make it any less so. So why should video games be all rose gardens and cute bunnies?

This was just an excuse to vent some of the anger I feel at assholes who always try to wrap everything up. Always trying to keep stuff from reaching people, always trying to excert their control millimeter by millimeter. Frak those nazies and frak those who submit to them too.

And good thing that you used an alias Azadeh, so no one would know your true identity!
The only thing that should be closely monitored in regards to games has to do with young kids. No kid with premature conceptions of the world should be allowed to play, say, GTA 3+. But as for grownups, only the taste should be the deciding factor. As for me, too much bloodshed is not my cup of tea (assuming that I’m a grownup
).
That was just my view. And democracy should vote on such views.

I just watched the trailer in glorious 1080p, the way it is meant to be watched and the way the game will look, and man it is glorious!
The compression is done much better this time around (H.264 instead of VC-1) with much less choppiness and artifacts.
By the way, since the Sony website that you have to get this version from is completely brain-dead and requires quite a bit of work to let you actually get to this video, I’ve uploaded it over here. And why isn’t the blood shaded and fogged in this video? That’s the only part of this that does not look natural.

Isn’t it obvious?! So that people cannot preview their half-downloaded files. So that even a single byte gets corrupted in transfer, the whole file becomes unusable. Because the compression is completely useless on a compressed video file. So that people have to have free space twice the size of the video on their hard disk.
Oh, wait… These were Sony’s reasons for putting a zip file up. I just mirrored theirs’.

Yeah, that’s exactly what we noticed here. I guess their work on the blood is not done yet. After all, this game will be released no sooner than next year.
