The phrase is latin. Meaning “Consigned to the flames of woe” or “doomed to the flames of suffering.”
I first heard it as part of Mozart’s Requiem Mass, in the movie “Amadeus”. Apparently, it’s part of a famous latin poem about the Day of Wrath.
